Passage of Florida legislative bill HB537 has caused 2.6 million+ total voters to become disenfranchised, by altering the primary date in Florida. About 1.7 million of those voters were Democrats. HB537 was passed by an overwhelming Republican majority. Unless the Republican National Committee and the Democratic National Committee policies are changed, this could happen to you some day, regardless of your state or party affiliation.

In Florida, we saw a record number of votes cast in the primary election. These Florida voters are being stripped of their voting rights clearly outlined in the DNC Charter, because an overwhelming Republican majority legislature passed HB537, which changed the Florida primary date.

All Democratic candidates were listed on these Florida ballots. Therefore, the ballots cast expressed the will of the people. The stakes have risen again. The media and our own candidates are referring to the Florida primaries as a 'beauty contest' and 'meaningless'. How much do you believe Floridians will endure before they turn their back on the Democratic party, completely? Having a re-vote would be financially impossible and a caucus solution would not be reflective of the original voting preferences. In fact, any solution that falls short of sitting the existing delegates is completely unfair and not democratic!

Historically, banned delegates have always been reinstated to maintain party unity. We understand the political implications make this a difficult decision, but we ask that you let us continue to be the party of unity and that you extend the voting rights that you clearly agreed to uphold in your Charter. Let us not turn our back on fellow Democrats, but rather have all voices heard. Let us elect a President of all 50 United States and Territories. Let us maintain the commitment to expanding opportunity for every American.

We, the undersigned, believe our nominee will need the enthusiastic support of all Democrats to win the general election, and so we are signing this petition to support the seating of Florida delegates to the Democratic National Convention.
