Republican Outcome of HB537

RNC Decision: Although the same delegate selections rules apply, per the Republican National Committee 2008 Delegate Rules, Florida Republicans, had a different outcome. Florida was stripped of 50% of their delegates. They will address the issue of their lost delegates at the convention, with the Republican presidential nominee. Unlike the Democrats, Republican candidates were allowed to campaign in the state of Florida and did so vigorously.

Florida Republican Decision: Florida Republican party chairperson, Jim Greer made an announcement on August 11, 2007, stating "After carefully reviewing the language of the Republican National Committee rules addressing the time frame for the delegate selection process, I have determined that the actions of the Florida legislature to move the Presidential Preference Primary to January 29, 2008 does not violate RNC rules as it relates to our delegate selection process. Furthermore, we are determined that it is in the best interest of Florida and the RPOF to send a full slate of delegates to the Convention."
